The ‘live edge’ refers to the outer natural edge of the tree, when it is cut into slabs to make furniture from. When these edges are left on, the furniture is referred to as live or waney edged furniture. The more character a piece of wood has the more interesting the live edge will be. Sometimes we straighten this edge off with resin, ensuring the full character of the tree is kept. We fill all of the characterful splits, cracks and holes with resin and then polish the surface to give a super tactile finish to it. Below are photos of our live edge dining tables, coffee tables and even a live edge headboard – which is 2.6m long!
